What to expect with your new roof project
We’d like to be able to tell you that you will leave in the morning for work and come home at the end of the day and a new roof will have magically settled on your home. It’s a bit more complicated than that. However, we aim to do it right the first time and make is easy and seamless for the homeowner.
Typically, a roofing jobs takes 2-3 days for an average size house. We will provide you with exact information on project start/end dates before we even begin.
“Do I have to be home while getting a new roof?”
Answer: Typically, no. We usually do not need to access the inside of your home during a roofing project. If you are having any repairs to your attic space or insulation done, than we might. This will all be arranged ahead of time so that it is convenient for you.

First Day of Getting a New Roof
Our crew will roll up and get to work right away. We will prep your home by protecting your driveway, landscaping and yard from the work we will be doing. We ask that you remove your vehicles from the driveway or park off to the side furthest from the house. We’ll discuss the best options for this before we start.
Next, the scaffolding goes up and we bring in our amazing Equipter dumpster. We raise this bad boy up to the level of your roof so we can deposit the tear-off material right into it.
We don’t throw anything down onto your yard that has to be picked up later. No hunting for nails and other trash. We don’t want you to find any “surprises” later while mowing your lawn or enjoying your yard.
We will also carefully remove anything that you have on the roof, including satellite/TV dishes, skylights, weathervanes, and solar panels. You may experience television interruptions. We will put all of these items back.
“Will it be really noisy inside my house while the work is being done?”
Answer: It can be. Our crews are very respectful and will not be doing a lot of yelling and playing loud music. However, the nature of roofing does produce some banging and vibrations inside the home. You probably won’t be able to take a peaceful nap. Some homeowners find it helpful to take pets and small children to a friend or family member’s house during the day.
Now the real fun begins…
Once everything is in place to protect your home we start tearing off the old roofing material. Our crew loves this part! Getting rid of the old to bring in the new is so satisfying!
After all the old material is gone here are some thing that will happen (depending on your specific project):
- Insulation installed
- New decking installed
- Skylights added
- Holes, leaks or other damage repaired
- Chimney repairs
- Vents installed
- Gutter repair/replacement
