- First of all, it’s DANGEROUS! Even professional roofers with imaginary wings and a bag full of professional tricks can have accidents! For a homeowner, just climbing a ladder in itself poses risk. Not to mention, WALKING and WORKING on top of the house. JUST DON’T do it!
Most homeowners don’t know the proper way to get on a ladder or on the roof. They get up there and shouldn’t be up there. AND THEY GET HURT! And the ripple effect of that is costly! The smart way to FIX this problem is to take preventative measures, to begin with! If you know your roof is prone to ice buildup, get a roof rake to remove the snow as it falls. This will prevent the thaw and freeze cycle that creates ice dams. Roof rakes are also designed NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE. (A light bulb should be going off in your head about now.)
- Not being able to identify the true problem. This wastes time, money, and energy in the process.
